My own personal op...A very interesting article, RH. My own personal opinion on this is that Americans, the ones who don't equate the veil with terrorism, are uncomfortable w/ the apparent lack of intimacy a veil creates. We're so used to looking at one another, watching the other person's facial expressions (a reason why the niqab just throws people for an absolute loop), and, well, knowing what the other person's hair looks like. The veil becomes this barrier between the non-Muslim and the hegabi-a social barrier the average American is not accustomed to. Would this change w/ more exposure to hegabis?
